installing the profiler tool: (updated 9/21/2012) (NOTE, these instructions are no longer valid for newer versions of ArcGIS 10.2 and later...use the instructions on the webpage instead.) steps 1a-c are in case you had a previous install gone bad – when I updated from Arc9.3 to 10 I found nothing to remove. 1) Look for pieces of previous versions and delete them a) run arcgis\bin\categories.exe b) delete anything 'profiler' from mxcommands and mxcommandbars c) If you have/had an old profiler1.dll the ~\bin folder, delete it and... d) run unRegisterProfilerDLL.bat (comes with the download). Edit it first to make sure the paths are correct. Always run this stuff as an administrator (right click -> run as administrator) 2) Install a) put the profiler1.dll in ~arcgis\bin b1) run RegisterProfilerDLL.bat (comes with the download). Edit it first to make sure the paths are correct. Always run this stuff as an administrator (right click -> run as administrator) b2) there is no longer a need to register with windows c) click in the arcgis toolbar space, choose 'customize', and add the profiler dll d) should add the tool to the list, so activate it.
